Our Leather

Our items are crafted with the finest leather sourced from the United States, Italy, and France. We use threads that are imported from Germany and Japan, considered the strongest, longest-lasting bonded polyester threads made by people who take great pride in their work.

Everything we sell is designed in-house and made by hand, with skills honed with years of practice. Thus, we can provide high-quality, thoughtfully-crafted leather goods and accessories. Please note that all products that are made by hand are not—and should not, be perfect. Minimal flaws and small differences between items are unavoidable but add character unique to each piece.

Leather is an organic material that has been used for centuries to make clothes, tools, and other commodities. Although a lot has changed in its production, it has remained the same. As a natural, organic material, leather is not created in a lab, so flaws are considered normal. When using full-grain leather, some blemishes remain and are part of the appeal of leather items.

Leather is not waterproof, nor is it water resistant. Keep leather products away from water. The only way to make the leather resistant to the effects of water is to over-saturate it with greases and coat it with polymers. We do not coat our products with plastic polymers; There are plenty of plastic goods on the market, but we maintain to keep ours as natural as possible.

Leather should age and should be marked by life and use, just like we all are. We coat some of our creations using animal products, such as Neatsfoot Oil and Mink Oil. This allows the leather item to resist some of the smudges that happen in life, but it is not an impermeable barrier. We encourage you to take care of your product.

Leather will age. It will show what it is called a ‘patina’ which means that it will oxidize and react to the effects of UV lights, oils, and friction, much like your own skin does. The original color of the leather will darken with time; some leathers faster than others. Leather needs to be taken care of by conditioning it with leather conditioning products to prevent it from drying out and cracking. With proper care, our goods should last you many, many years. When using products to condition leather, we recommend using them first on an inconspicuous part of the item. Eventually, decades from now, our goods will return to the earth from which they came: that is the whole point of using natural materials.

As discussed earlier, minimal flaws in our goods are inherent to goods made by hand using natural materials. This should be understood and accepted. We have no control over how animal skins wrinkle and are not responsible for any product deemed unsatisfactory due to that reason. Handcrafted items will not be cut as if they were cut by a machine; that should be understood and accepted. Again, the flaws should be minimal.

Now, this is very important: We are not responsible nor liable for any damage to people or property caused by the misuse of our products and services, as well as damages that could result from altering or modifying our products, intentionally or unintentionally. Bottom line: Enjoy and use products as they are meant to be used.
